i had a prof who said that if you use, “clearly,” “obviously,” or vaguely reference the Bible you’ve got no argument

Yes, overuse of “clearly” is one of the tell-tale signs of a poorly written brief. “Obviously,” is another overused term. Make it clear and make it obvious.

Funny. I had an older attorney tell me that you had to earn the right to use “clearly”. If you didn’t truly make it clear, you didn’t get to use it. Good advice.
