What do you mean by ‘Browns’? A shot at people in the Middle East, Latin America and South Asia no doubt. You know Dave, initially these Courtoons had this quirky ‘racist’ joke where most people would indulge in calling any Courtoon racist. However, of late you seem to have infused an very active element of racism in most of your Courtoons. Perhaps due to viewers continuing to label it as racist, you thought that noone could accuse me of racism since even the non-racist Courtoons are caled racist. Well, this is the final straw Dave. You are tottering on the edge here. Easy fella.
You know, I hate to agree with the usual ‘racist’ comments, but this is the first time that, hopefully accidentally, the cartoon is questionable. I get the joke to the extent of the questions asked and football scores, and whatever. But the comment about the Browns, when combined with the joke including Sotomayor – a hispanic woman, seems to be talking about her race and asking so many questions, and not the football team Browns losing their game. I hope that isn’t what you intended, but it certaintly could seem that way.
@Irish: Uh huh. And Steelers is clearly a racist reference to Romani (aka Gypsies). Chargers, of course, is an anti-Semitic reference to Jews. The discriminatory intent of Bengals is more subtle: a crass reference to older women, who are more commonly called Cougars.
Love the pick of Sotomayor (and backed it early on). Also love the Browns (and backed them since I was a kid watching them lose to John Elway in the 80s). I was at the game referenced in the Courtoon. The comment “Stupid Browns” is about the Stupid Browns. The idea that I would call Sotomayor a “Stupid Brown” is so absurd as to be amusing, which is why Slum Shady’s comment is actually pretty funny.
I was hoping Black’s Dictionary could provide a good word to sum all of this up, but it doesn’t have one. Stupid Black’s.
Woohoo! The man himself has chosen to mention me! Hope you were amused. Yet another variation of mine and RyanL’s ‘racist’ accusations to have some fun in the comments section when the Courtoon bombs.
@ Tracey Thanks for the intelligent response. I merely stated why people could see this as a racist cartoon legitimately for a change. I’m glad it wasn’t intended that way. There are many racists, as was witnessed in comments made when Sotomayor was picked. To think there are others is not ‘absurd’, with all due respect. This kinda makes me wanna quit reading this comic – not because of this strip, but because of the rude responses.
P.S. I never said you were calling Sotomayour a ‘Stupid Brown’!! Hehe. I said that it refers to people of asian, middlea eastern and latin american descent. YOU interpreted that to mean Sotomayor. Your guilty conscience got the better of you there Dave. Also, Tracey… ooooo ouch damn girl! Get that sand out of your vagina already.
THIS COURTOON IS RACIST!
Even the Detroit Lions have a better record than Thomas! (What? No love for the Vikings and Brett Favre?)
This courtoon (and especially the dog who is being peed on) is racist.
The joke, for those that didn’t get it, was that Sotomayor owns the winery that Scalia purchases form.
HUH? The Joke is that Sotomayor asked 36 questions in the first hour of the new session.
So much for Man-genius.
Yup, and Scalia asked 30, and it was widely reported as if it were some kind of competition.
It’s called Google. You should try it sometime.

Google? I usually wait to get my news from courtoons comments. So was I wrong about the winery?
@Okie: I don’t know. I’m old-fashioned, and mostly get my news from The Daily Show. Or perhaps IronicTimes (http://www.ironictimes.com)
Sotomayor is a racist ho.
Dude, enough with the accusations of racism. It’s just a legal cartoon!

Tee hee. Double entendre.
I hate to think how many complaints are being laid with various organisations.
I demand that the next edition of the legal dictionary be renamed “The absence of visible colour dictionary”.
